HEALTH AND
SAFETY
St Annes is an officially registered Health
promoting School and as such has certain policies and practices in place to ensure children feel safe, secure and happy.
School Discipline
Our school rules regarding the way in which children conduct themselves are few and are
based on the following:
- Gospel values provide the foundation for everything we do
- Consideration is shown for others and their property
- Co-operation is expected with other children and adults
- Care and courtesy should be shown towards others
- Common sense should prevail at all times
Parents/caregivers will be contacted should the staff have concerns about their
childrens behaviour.
Accidents and Sickness
If an accident occurs in the school the matter will be reported immediately to a staff
member and recorded. If the case is serious, parents will be contacted as soon as
possible. The same applies to a child who may be sick.
Emergency numbers are important and the school should always have someone to contact.
Please let the office know immediately any telephone contact numbers change.
Children's Wellbeing
All medication including asthma inhalers must be named and handed into the school
office staff who will administer such medication. For safety reasons children are not
allowed to keep medication in their pockets, school bags or desks. Parents must complete a
consent form before such medication will be administered. On enrolment we ask for your
childs medical history. If at any time there are changes to your childs
medical condition please notify the school office. Yours childs well being is our
concern.
Hats
St Annes is a sunsmart school. As part of its Health Promotion all children are
required to wear the regulation school sunhat during terms one and four in the playground.
Children who do not have a hat at school are confined to a designated shady area.
Lunch Scheme
s a Health Promoting School, St Annes
offers Subway as a healthy option on a Monday and Friday. Please refer
to our Healthy Eating Policy.
Car Park
The car park is a
very busy place, particularly before and after school. In the interests
of children’s safety cars are requested to enter the car park via the
south gate (closest to IOSIS), and exit via the north gate (closest to the
Church office).
Children waiting to be picked up after school sit
under the covered area outside Room 12, where
parents are asked to collect them. Children are not permitted to wait in the car park
or on the roadside.
